The restaurants around town--and especially those in the French Quarter--are starting to release their special summer menus. Good old Galatoire's and its new steakhouse (33 Bar & Steak) have an array of unique ideas for the warm weather months: Traditional Tuesday Women wearing hats or pearls and men in seersucker suits or bowties get an appetizer on the house. They didn't say so, but the culture being what it is, I'm guessing that women wearing seersucker or men wearing pearls will also qualify, but check on that first. Friday Lunch At 33 The "33" was the old address of Galatoire's Steak before everything was renumbered over a century ago. It's a dinner place primarily, but they do open for lunch on Friday. On that day a $17 special prix-fixe lunch is available, along with the regular menu. $3 Premium Martinis At Lunch It's more than a quarter, but the booze is of better quality, and three bucks is less than half the regular price, anyway. And we all know about the legendary generosity of Galatoire's drinks. And the bowl of olives and onions they come with. Lunch only, Tuesday through Thursday. Wine Wednesday Special prices on special bottles on this special day.None of this obscures that fact that this is Galatoire's, one of the crown jewels of New Orleans joie de manger.
