No Sushi Again. Soupy Curry: Yum!
Stayed home, the better to keep on top of my swollen Wednesday workload. After the radio show, I went out for sushi at Yujin in Covington. I almost had a sushi dinner Saturday but changed my mind. This left a small hunger for Japanese eats to grow. But I was foiled again: Yujin was taking a few days off for the Fourth of July.
The other North Shore sushi places were farther away than I wanted to travel. That appetite went on hold again, but I kept the supper Asian. Thai Chili, panang curry with chicken. Lots of vegetables, great sauce, just what I wanted. It was on the soupy side, which is the way they do it in Thailand, I am told.
The two women in the dining room--one Asian, one not--both asked whether I wanted dessert. I said ice cream would be the perfect thing. No ice cream, they said, but they did have sherbet. Mango or coconut. Mango, I said. They brought both. Did they make it themselves? No, they laughed. But I liked them both, because a) they tasted like what they claimed to be made of, and 2) it wasn't very sweet.
The Marys reported that they were back at the Eden Roc in Miami Beach, and the young man who had been making shy overtures to Mary Leigh was still there. But they never did talk, and the boy would be gone tomorrow morning. Mary Ann says she is writing a blog with her reports on their activities. I am to run it in this publication.
